Paris Jackson covers Harper Bazaar

paris

Paris Jackson the oldest child of Michael Jackson is all GROWN up and ready to set the record straight as she graced the cover of Harper’s Bazaar! Check out her full interview here. Highlights below:

HIghlights of interview:

On being Michael Jackson’s favorite child:

“When I was a kid, I was with my dad and my two brothers. Growing up, I was treated as the favorite because I was the only girl. I was the princess; I was perfect in my dad’s eyes.”

On being famous and how to handle haters:

“Who gives a f*ck?” she asks. “You’re on their mind—how is that a bad thing? Doesn’t matter if they’re saying good or bad things about you. They’re thinking about you enough to write about you. You just can’t care.”

“But what if you do care?” I ask.

“I used to feel that way,” she says. “Then it gets to a point where, you know what, it’s going to happen. Not everybody is going to be happy with what you do. If you’re not happy with what you’re doing, that’s a problem,” she says. “If you’re happy, who gives a f*ck?”

On using her platform to speak on politics:

“Plenty of times I’ve thought about not doing anything in the public eye and having my own private life. Then I started seeing how everything in the world is going. And I feel like each year it’s getting worse.”

Whitney Houston and Mj inducted into R&B Hall of Fame

R&B music lovers are in for a treat. The Official R&B Music Hall of Fame is set to open in Cleveland in the summer of 2013. The museum will celebrate the accomplishments of R&B in music history through interactive exhibits, educational programming and an annual list of inductees.

According to a press release, the class of 2013 inductees will consist of 25 artists, including Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, James Brown, The Temptations, The O’Jays, Gerald Levert and Aretha Franklin. Reverend Al Sharpton will also be honored for his life-long support of many R&B and Gospel artists with the Ron Banks Humanitarian Award.

The museum’s founders are Ron Banks, a former member of The Dramatics, and LaMont Robinson, founder of Leo’ Casino in Cleveland. Together they form the Robinson Global Sports & Entertainment Group, LLC.

Robinson’s love for R&B music started as a child. “I was a big James Brown fan and my uncle played in the band at Leo’s Casino behind Edwin Starr, and I’ve always had a big love for music,” he said in an interview with the local Cleveland paper, Call & Post.

In February, Robinson led the creation of a mobile R&B exhibit because he wanted to highlight the artists that didn’t get recognition in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Remembering MJ

What is your best Michael Jackson memory?! Being a legend he has inspired and touched the lives of so many growing up and in the music world and various generations!

I must say my favorite MJ moments are in the movie Moonwalk when he and the kids are dancing to Smooth Criminal and I recall having to learn the lyrics to the Free Wylie inspired track “Will You Be There.” Fastfoward today I’m so addicted to the MJ Experience game.

It always gets the party going or gives lots of laughs for friends and families.

So it’s your turn now..what’s your fav MJ memory?

Remembering MJ 3 YRS LATER!

Artists have taken to Twitter to remember Michael Jackson today, on the third anniversary of his death. Notable remembrances and shout-outs have come from Justin Bieber, Usher, Wiz Khalifa, Ludacris, Ghostface Killah and many others in the world of music, lamenting the loss of the King of Pop. Bieber, perhaps the clearest heir to Jackson’s child-pop-prodigy throne, in particular called him “the best who ever did it.” At 10:45 a.m., three of the top trending topics on Twitter were Jackson-related.

The Jackson family was also all over Twitter this morning. Fourteen-year-old Paris Jackson, the singer’s oldest child, tweeted: “RIP Michael Jackson .. Dad you will forever be in my heart <3 i love you.”

Hundreds of loyal Michael Jackson fans are expected to mark the third anniversary of the pop icon’s death today at his final resting place in Glendale, including, apparently, his brother.

In a message posted to his Twitter account, Randy Jackson said he planned to pay his brother a visit today, joining dozens of other fans who are expected to file past MJ’s final resting place at the Great Mausoleum at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale.

Other family members also tweeted memorial messages, including Paris Jackson, who said “RIP Michael Jackson .. Dad you will forever be in my heart <3 i love you.”

La Toya Jackson tweeted that it was a “sad morning,” being that “this day was the day that lead to the demise of my little brother…May you RIP. Gone FAR To Soon.”

Describing the crowd as “very polite,” a spokesman for the cemetery said fans were waiting at the entrance when the gates opened at 7 a.m., and so far, the commemoration has unfolded much as it has the past two years.

The Great Mausoleum is closed to the public, but fans are allowed to file past and pay their respects.

Jackson’s burial at Forest Lawn was a global spectacle, attracting thousands of onlookers. But each year since, dozens of fans still make the trip to the cemetery on the anniversary of his death, some with memorial posters, others sporting some of the trademark styles of MJ.
