After tuning into the Lifetime biopic of Whitney Houston one thing was made clear she struggled with a major cocaine addiction. The movie started out telling the story of how Whitney first met Bobby Brown and how the two fell in love. It told the vivid story of her drug addiction, relationship with Bobby and when she was in the prime of her career with the Bodyguard.
Although, the film did have some of her music offered from Debroah Cox and not “The Voice” I was actually impressed with former top model Yaya Decosta’s great acting skills. I mean whenever you looked at her from the side she had a striking resemblance to Whitney.
Overall, it was actually okay in my opinion when I compare against all the other EPIC lifetime fails (AALIYAH..STILL HOT ABOUT THAT ONE!!!)
According to the ratings, the movie attracted 4.5 million viewers Saturday night making it the biggest Lifetime movie in a year.
According to DailyMail:
Whitney ranked third as the most-watched program of the night on its premiere date, following behind NBC’s Dateline and CBS’ 48 Hours.
Whitney chronicled the I Will Always Love You singer’s life during the time period surrounding her tumultuous marriage to the My Prerogative hitmaker in 1992 until her death – when she drowned in the bathtub of her Beverly Hills Hilton suite in February 2012.
The coroner found cocaine in Whitney’s system, revealing that her woes with drug addiction plagued her until her tragic end.
In November, Bobbi expressed her anger over the upcoming film.
But it is Bobbi’s grandmother Cissy who has been the most outspoken, angrily objecting to the movie even being made.
‘Lifetime has chosen to go ahead with the movie about Whitney in spite of my family’s objections,’ the bereaved mother said in a statement to Entertainment Tonight in June.
What are your thoughts on the film? Did you like it or hate it? Did you feel like the actors and actresses did a good job?
